"I love this film. It is riveting, funny, and absolutely serious at the same time.”
- Jean Rogers, ARUP

“China’s population continues to explode, commerce is booming and the sense of urgency for its government and people to implement 'green building techniques' is paramount to its survival. This film is a major 'eye opener' to what really is happening there.”
- Alan Bloom,

MORE ABOUT THE FILM

Over the summer of 2007, three young people - one Chinese, one American and one English - traveled to China to investigate common misconceptions about the potential for mass-scale sustainable construction there. Over 65 people were interviewed and filmed in 9 cities within 9 weeks. The results of this trip are both eye-opening and inspiring.

The Green Dragon Documentary Film portrays the sheer scale of China’s construction industry while engaging the viewer in the reality of how this industry works. It also provides an in-depth discussion of the barriers and opportunities for China to ‘go green’.

High level developers present their experiences alongside government officials, product manufacturers, architects and lawyers.

Many of these people are leading the green building movement in China. They know the realities and they know how to succeed.

This map shows the 9 cities visited. From north to south; Harbin, Beijing, Tianjin, Qingdao, Lianyungang, Suzhou, Cixi, Shanghai, Shenzhen.
“This film provides a rare window into the story of the biggest building boom in human history. It has been an unforgettable experience and an honor to have had the opportunity to make this film.”

- CAROLINE HARRISON, CREATIVE DIRECTOR/CO-PRODUCER/EDITOR
“Before making this film I had no idea of what an amazing journey I was embarking on. I had been told that over half the world’s construction takes place in this one country, but only when you see it do you believe it.”

- MAX PERELMAN, RESEARCH DIRECTOR/CO-PRODUCER
“I am Chinese. I know China intimately. Yet only through making this film did my eyes open to the need for sustainable construction. As a result of making this film, my life has changed.”

- RIVER YUN LU, LOCALIZATION DIRECTOR/CO-PRODUCER
